A Series of Unfortunate Events

Sitting in the macdonalds below the music sch now using the internet. Have been pretty much doing that for the past few days.

Just had my interview this morning. Today is really a really bad day. Its like the book: A Series of Unfortunate Events.

First I woke up in e morning and everything was fine of cos. With a few ppl giving me extra alarms, thou one failed terribly. Ha. Den left the house and the moment I stepped out, it started raining, almost like to signal the start of a really bad day.

I had to go to sch first to print my resume out(justincase) so I decided to take a cab cause if it was raining at city hall, I couldn’t get to sch from the mrt either. And theres noone in sch who can fetch me. So yea, despite the big hole in my pocket I decided to hail a cab. But there was no cab. So I decided to take a bus to the interchange to take a cab. Which is like really stupid cause im like spending extra money for no reason. Ok. This aint that bad la. It was just wasting money.

Den I reached sch. Printed the resume, read thro the website a lil, composed myself and chatted with preggz for a while before leaving for the company. after some discussion with preggz, decided that taking a cab there would be good because the weather suddenly became really hot and humid. Its like that kind will perspire like siao kind. Despite it being damn damn near, which is like for ppl who know like my sch is at Stamford road, the company is at Purvis. But anyway yea.

So the uncle dropped me at Purvis. And I started to find the company. but after walking one entire round around the whole Purvis street which is kinda like linked to the street beside it called amoy street. And I couldn’t find the mentioned add at all. After asking 3 ppl, and walking another 1.5 rounds around Purvis, and of cos perspiring like mad and teetering on my heels, I finally found the address. Heaving a sigh of relief, I trudged up the two flights of steep stairs and pressed the button, which meant someone was coming down to fetch me or the door would auto open? But no one came. Which was quite weird. And in that claustrophobic airless staircase, I was perspiring like mad.

A lady opened the door for me, and said “oh I din know u were here! I tot u were at the lift.” Which got me really confused cause I was like, theres a lift??? Where??? Like f*** I just climbed two flights of stairs for nothing. Putting on a smile for the lady who opened the door, I looked up. There were 3 more flights of STEEP staircases. At the end of the staircases, there was another woman staring down at me, with the other behind me. Putting on a smile, I trudged up the stairs as fast as I could, I mean like theres one behind me, theres on in front of me. How can take my time and walk right. And because somehow I seemed to have lost weight, my pants were slipping down as I walked. So it was really uncomfy. But ok nm. At the end, I was panting like mad. But of cos no one could hear that this super unfit intern cant climb FIVE FLIGHT OF STEEP STAIRCASES. Right.

Den another lady greeted me with “Hi, I tot u were scheduled for 12?” confusion hit me and I was like NOOOO ITS 11. I would love it to be 12 lor. But I politely smiled and replied that it was eleven. She then ushered me to a room, and told me to sit down. Inside me I was like “HENG, GOT TIME TO BREATHE AND COMPOSE FIRST.” Remember that by now, im not only full of perspiration, my forehead glistening with beads of sweat which is thus DAMN OBVIOUS, my legs aching like mad, and I had no breath. In less than a min, two of them walked in decided to start the interview. Like, CONGRATULATIONS MINSI. Now u cant even talk properly cause u cant even catch ur bloody breath. But of cos miss act very strong u can do it minsi decided to answer all her questions as though shes very chang qi. And mind u the questions were all like short and sweet, like “tell me more about yourself.” “so how do u think u can add value to the company?” “so can u give me a few examples of some training sessions u are involved in?”. i.e. GIVING ME NO TIME TO BREATHE. I really had to regulate my breathing else I think I would have choked. And that’s the end of the tumultuous interview.

Just in case u think that’s the end of Minsi’s Series of Unfortunate Events. Nope. So minsi trudged off and away from scary Purvis street in a daze. And decided to go settle her fixed deposit thing. A quick call confirmed that the nearest hong leong was at north bridge road. Very near. So minsi with aching legs and sticky body and blur walked there. A quick check with a security guard directed minsi the direction of hong leong. So minsi walked. She walked and she walked. But she never found hong leong. Refusing to give up. She walked one more round ard the whole building and street. But she still cldnt find hong leong. In exasperation, she went back to the same security guard and asked him again. And he kindly pointed out. It was RIGHT BESIDE A BIG YELLOW CHEERS WITH A BIG HONG LEONG FINANCE SIGN. And minsi walked past the BIG door two times. T-W-O TIMES. And btw, minsi has pretty big eyes. Hows that possible. Ok nm.

So minsi is very tired now. Minsi walks to bugis and HAD to call someone to rant. And luckily her good friend lian returned her call. And she happily ranted every single shit out. And met her other two good friends jon and yang for lunch. As she sat there and thought bout the next interview, her tired legs, her stupid brain, she felt very very very sian and cranky. No more appetite minsi went off for lunch and drank a not very nice lime juice. And while drinkin the not very nice lime juice, one of her favourite red rose earrings dropped. and now she was only left with one usable earring. But its ok. Cause can stick back using super glue. But she was still gloomy. And so was her friend mehmehyang. So add gloominess together, u get double the gloominess. And since misery always finds company, jon soon became a bit miserable too. But that’s all all right.

Jon decided that we shld have some dessert. So off we went to a nice dessert place. And at this moment, minsi received a phone call from M1. the second company that she just applied for last night. To give all non SMU readers a brief intro, on the SMU online internship website, every single time, we can only apply for 2 companies. If one hasn’t rejected u, u canot apply for another one. so when minsi had to apply last night she had to choose only 1 out of the 4 companies to apply to as all 4 applications were closing yesterday. She had faith in M1, and picked M1. and guess wad. M1 called and said, there were no more HR positions left and whether minsi would be interested in other available positions. And the available positions were telemarketing, which as explained by her was. Calling existing customers and asking them to upgrade their phone sets and all. I.E.THIS IS A SCAM. Because telemarketing is a stupid job. And useless, and I wouldn’t need to intern to learn more about telemarketing. AND SHE BASICALLY WASTED HER ONE OUT OF TWO SPACES ON THE SYSTEM FOR THIS BULLSHIT.

Juts when u think things cant get any worse, her phone had to die on her. i.e. whenever she clicked on the SMS function, it hanged. True she might have smsed a lot the whole day. But WHY DIE ON HER TODAY U STUPID MOTOROLA. I just repaired you bout 2 mths ago. How many times u want me to send u for repair in less than a year! And she so needed to sms to rant. Why why why.

And rem her nice rose earring? She bought superglue to repair it and hey! She glued it indeed. But because STUPID GONG MINSI forgot to remove the stopper in the earring, she glued the bloody stopper to the earring, resulting in the earring now being totally
U-S-E-L-E-S-S.

Ok minsi is really done ranting now. Thanks to short smses from michelle and simon to take my mind off things for a while. Thanks to lian for allowing me to rant incessantly. And thanks to yang who shared my misery. Thanks to jon too for enduring two miserable souls. And thanks to you people who actually endured this whole whiny post.

And im really very whiny today. Whiny. Gloomy. Cranky. Jon even mentioned that im less irritating when im whiny. ARE U SURE OR NOT. And I forgot to bring clothes to change into. So im now stuck in pants a long shirt heels for the whole day. Minsi is sad. =(

been a busy few days. nicely spent though with great ppl. i like ppl who make me laugh. missing the smu peeps abit thou cause we used to see each other every day!

today was the first day i sang KTV in a while. and somehow because of the mood, the raw environment we were in, when i sang this song called "hen xiang ni" by vivian hsu, i really felt the song alot. tears were actually going to collect but of cos how can minsy cry in frnt of ppl! but yea. i do miss my aunt alot. alot.



well well well. will be giving my dear cousins some help with their work tmr! =) need to apply for internshipss! shall apply b4 i head to bed.




shall i follow my mind? or just let my heart overule the alwiz so logical mind?

shall i take a step forward or backwards?

i want to take that step out but apprehension engulfs me.

exams are overrrr!

first things first. mercer rejected me already. a bit sad. but kinda glad also cna apply for one more?? but most of the HR ones are gone. sigh. sigh.

anyways been having lots of fun these few days at mg. =) and the new place looks really good. its just great at mg sometimes cause the ppl i meet there are all really different from the ppl i usually meet like from sch and stuff. and i like to be exposed to many types of ppl. seeing ppl have the passion to pursue things they really like. really liberates me. HAHA. and i really wanna help dem. but yea. its real cool.

exams are over! wrote till my hands were really really tired.

have kinda neglected family these few days. must make the effort to do something bout it!

read my 8days horoscope and it says ill be attracted to ppl with backgrounds very different from mine.

friday the 13th

two papers tmr. Strategy in the morning. Performance Management and Compensation in the afternoon.

both are open book. but even after reading them, i cant really rem shit! bahhhhh...

everyone has gone home. left me and lian. the library is almost empty.

not to mention candy. candy went home. or rather candy shifted somewhere else i think. cause candy was alone. candy's friend went off.

i know i v random la but canot mehhh..

after paper tmr will go lijun's bday. i think ill b v tired. haha.


getting irritated at someone quite alot recently. luckily hols are coming.

and today is really friday the 13th. i had such a bad bout of luck

when i left the house, it was gloomy. so i walked damn fast to the interchange. den rain started pattering down. so i literally ran to the mrt. and near the mrt where theres a construction site, there was alot of oil and sand on the floor. i slipped and scraped my right knee cap. and its painfuulll. =((((

den nevermind i had to reach sch by 2pm cause need to take paper for strat. den the prof mentioned in email must take ic to change for the paper. so i asuumed its quite strict that kind. i rushed like mad, thinking that i cld buy an umbrella from giordano in raffles city shhopping centre. when i reached city hall mrt, time check 140. shit. buy umbrella. GIORDANO VANISHED. so i went to robinsons. DONT HAVE. took a look at the pouring rain and stood there evaluating the possibility of running to the traffic light crossing it and later running across thr traffic light again. CANOT. THE RAIN DAMN BIG. time check 150. rush like mad and decided to run across the other side of the road, from the other exit and run to the restaurant to take umbrella. RAN with only my pathetic pink plastic file as my shield. ran inside restaurant, blabbered "ineedumbrella.raindamnbig.gotexam.itakelaterreturn.bye" all in a breath to the amusement of by manager, boss and jap chef. ran out of the restaurant. timecheck 154. waited at the traffic light and crossed the first traffic light. poor guy beside me has only a file for shield as well. offered to share my BIG umbrella with him. he held the umbrella shyly and off we went. rushed like mad to the life in SOB. time check. 158. reached level 5 went to profs office. time check 200! den found out that all i have to do is sign beside my name and i can get my paper. seriously i was like wtf. lian or jon cld have collected for me just like this other girl behind me.

sigh. bad day.

sigh. does the end of a sch term necessarily be a good one. BAH. not really la. BAH. BAH. BAH. what if i dowan it to end.

day started off great with me spotting the eye candy and exchange eye contact somemore the moment i reached sch. day started to go on a downward spiral after receiving mins call.

seriously bloody asshole.

din study at all. den went for dinner.



studied a bit and day cheered up a bit with a bit of rubbish with lynnie and eye candy.

den day started going uppp.

fufilled a secondary sch er.. dream? HAHA. no la. just like er. crush-wish kinda thing. only lily will know. cause i called her in excitement. ahha.

den saw more of eye candy.

den bored joowee entertained me a bit. hahaha.

den talked to min. and shes much better now! =)) she even laughed. that laughter of hers made my tense heart and frowed brows relax so much.

had to walk to level 4 to print notes. cause the level 2 printers are spoiled.

finished my plum tablets. no more sweets.

potato chips and green tea combined giving me sore throat.

den now im left with other pple's eye candy and a pile of strategy notes.

where is my eye candy??? why din i see him leave? den he suddenly just bu jian le. =((

and my brother fell asleep. no more free car ride.

so im left with the dilemma of. should i stay till 6? or shld i not.

sigh. lifes full of decisions and what to do with them.

just finished one chapter of strategy. wah damn jialat. my brains are totally fried. but i feel good!! cause i properly absorbed the chapter. hahahaha.

had a damn slack day today. plans to go to sch failed but i had a great day anyway. went to temple for prayers. and it started pouring like mad! had dinner wth my fmaily and den we all went carrefour and shoped together. made me very happy. like very family. i bought FBT shorts for sleeping and more ribena and coconut biscuits! and im v happy. i love FBT SHORTS. damn comfy to sleep in. im going to buy the rest of e colors! HAHAHA. thou my grandma was like the shorts are VERY SHORT. hahaha. wanted to bring all of them to hk cafe to eat mango desserts. but everyone was so tired. ANOTHER DAY! =)

today was the first day we all went for dinner outside without my aunt. i no longer feel v sad but just i miss her alot. and how she would alwiz be telling us to eat more. and asking me again and again if i want more rice cause everyone knows i love rice. but yea. im ok. just that i miss her alot.

rehearsing for gene cell now. been a LOONNNGG time since i presented without th help of any notes at all except for the freak incident when my laptop crashed.

talked to humgu tay last night. she sounds sad. and im sad that none of us are there to help her out. glad that she has yuiern and her cousin still. and i do hope things will come to a good end. made me realize how much i miss simin tay huiyi ng debra ng and qinying goh. cant wait to meet themmm. sometimes we all get so caught up wiht the things we are doing that we tend to forget the things that really matter. and im guilty of that. especially with one in UK one in NTU one in NUS one in SIM. must meet up more with them! i miss dem alot.

im happy happy! had a pretty cool weekend. =) went to mg on sat and had a great time singing my heart out with michelle! shes really just about as crazy as me its insane. its amazing how we click so well when we have seen each other for wad 6 7 times?? we attempted to sing GET THE PARTY STARTED by pink. thats seriously damn cool den halfway the girls put weird wigs on us and so many ppl saw la. i swear we scared all the guests off that day. haha. headed home at 3 plus cause i knew i would die if i didnt! so went home and slept. plans to go sch to mug for gene cell obviously fell thro. woke up only at 4. and mommy told bro to do the chores cause poor me looked v tired and exams are comng! i feel lovvveedd! ahahhaa. den i went to sleep again at 6 plus for 2 hrs. amazing hor. so now i have to do all the things i need to do.

out of which i only applied for one company only. AHHAA. now doing the cover letter for the second company. MERCER. its paying 1500 lei. SO IM GONNA APPLY FOR IT. despite it sounding like tis damn IT. which is i.e. super not me. but ITS 1500 and its MERCER. haha.

and gotta read thro gene cell somemore. our ppt tmr is on GENETIC MUTATION DUE TO RADIATION. haha. how boring. but trust me we tried our best to spice it up. really. oh on an unrealted note! the hot dogs from superdog in vivo are dman damn nice! =)

please pray for me that ill get my internships ok. hopefully the 1500 one. HAHAHA. i need e cash lei.

and of cos the happiest thing of all was receiving the email from u. thanks. it meant alot to me. =)
